Hi, I’m Sarah!

I live in the Boston area and work in the Learning & Development space for a faith-based non-profit seeking to end extreme poverty globally. Alongside my full-time job, I’ve spent the last ten years pursuing theological education part-time, earning a Master’s of Religion (MAR ‘22) focused in Biblical Studies and a Master’s of Theology (ThM ‘25) with a concentration on Hebrew Bible/Old Testament from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. I’ve also received a certificate in Religion and Conflict Transformation through the Boston Theological Interreligious Consortium.

I grew up mostly in the Nashville, Tennessee area. I became a Christian at a young age, enjoyed (and struggled through) the many facets of church life, and benefited from honest, faithful discipleship in my home. Home was always a safe place to wrestle with faith and ask the difficult questions. Doubts and concerns (most often confessed through tears) were met with understanding, compassion, patience, much conversation, and usually two or three books to read in the process. My parents remain some of the most important spiritual influences in my life.

After coming up through public school, I attended Auburn University for college — War Eagle! My time in the Loveliest Village on the Plains established my devotion to college football, produced lifelong friendships, and culminated in a B.S. in Computer Science. After graduation, I traded the Deep South for East Asia where I spent 2 years studying Mandarin, learning how far my worldview could expand, growing in my walk with Jesus, and discussing life and faith with fellow students.

I moved to Boston to continue working cross-culturally, spending over a decade leading a multicultural team with Bridges International to serve and connect with students from all over the world on top U.S. university campuses. Through this work, I gained a greater commitment to growing and helping others grow in intercultural competence.

I love school and learning in general. I can quote more episodes of Friends than I’m proud of. I’m a trained singer who once dreamed of performing on Broadway; I dabble on the piano and the mandolin. I have a growing collection of house plants that I enjoying nurturing/propagating and have recently become a bunny mom. I’m an avid cruciverbalist (daily completing the NYT puzzles) and enjoy reading literary fiction, biographies, and theology. I love exploring big cities, spending time outdoors, traveling the world, and being ‘Aunt Fancy’ to some incredible kiddos in my life. I am dedicated to crossing cultures with humility and integrity and am committed to being involved in dissembling personal and systemic racism. I seek to contribute to increased biblical literacy, cultural competency, and emotional intelligence in the church.
